When ESPN's Dan Shanoff started the Daily Quickie back in 2003 it immediately became my first sports related destination in the morning. The entire idea and setup was a perfect introduction into the days sports stories. In August 2006 he left ESPN and started his own blog, DanShanoff.com continuing the Daily Quickie tradition. A little more then a year later The Sporting News has snatched him up. Making some big moves in the sports blog world by also adding Deadspin's Will Leitch, Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio and Spencer Hall from Every Day Should Be Saturday. Could this be a rejuvenation of sorts for The Sporting News? Time will tell. In the mean time, they just added thousands of readers to their fan base. FYI - Shanoff had one of the best sports blog rolls around. Check it out. Hopefully it will roll to TSN. glc
