WE CAN'T USE JEB?

Reuters.com shows that some things never change. Above is a political cartoon from 1920 that depicts a bewildered elephant, confused as the Republican convention draws near without a clear choice as to who will be the GOP's Presidential nominee. jmj... They're even pissing off Fox News. Nice! tjc

Sports Illustrated's Peter King gives his four theories for the recent resurgence of Eli Manning. What I'd really like to read is his theories for picking the Giants to lose in the NFC Wild Card, Divisional, and Championship playoff games. jmj

Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood and Pearl Jam front man Eddie Vedder were both disqualified for the Original Score Nomination for this year's Oscars. The Academy disqualified Greenwood, the Critic's Choice winner, citing that over half of the score for There Will Be Blood was prerecorded material. Vedder, winner of the Golden Globe award, was disqualified on the basis that his work was too "song-based." This is a case of the Academy trying to upend the other award ceremonies, although I don't think giving Alan Menken three nominations for his work on Enchanted is going to get the job done. jmj

john spencerESPN digs deep to find out about the mastermind behind the scenes for the Patriots. He's like the Leo McGarry to Belichick's Jeb Bartlet. Also, the unsung hero for the Pats, Wes Welker. Remember, they spent a fourth round pick on Randy Moss, but the parted with a second round pick for this undrafted diamond in the rough. tjc

This is just downright scary: two mentally-handicapped persons were used as human bombs yesterday in Bahgdad. The bombs killed more and 100 people and injured more than 200. Militants will do anything to get their point across. jmj

Consider me partisan. John McCain makes me want to puke. I've never witnessed a politician as childish as McCain is during a debate or a speech. This Dr. Strangelove video makes me chuckle. glc

A grid style puzzle and logic game, Griddlers.net, but the instructions provided are a bit poor. It's best to just figure it out for yourself. Good luck. glc

As I've declared recently, I don't care too much for the Pats attempt at perfection. Here's to hoping there's more to the spygate story. Unknown Matt Walsh, one of the Patriots original 'camera men' may have an affect on the outcome of all this. Why do I get the feeling that the house of cards is about to tumble? Probably more of a wish though. glc

Scientific American challenges your math and logic skills with a puzzle regarding message transmission from Mars to Earth. My rods and cones are all messed up. If puzzles aren't your thing then you might be interested in the smallest bones in the human body and how they interact with each other. And if that isn't up your alley this weekend, how about the science behind why we kiss. glc
