WALL-E

WALL-E!

I've been looking forward to Disney / Pixar's new summer release WALL-E for a couple months. Something about it just struck a cord. Perhaps it's his resemblance to Johnny-Five or the fact that the teasers have simply looked amazing. Either way I can't wait to see it. Over at Jim Hill Media, they investigate a part of the story that the Mouse team has been somewhat reluctant to advertise too heavily. I can understand the concern but it would be a sad day if people avoided the movie because of the social satire aspect. Then again a social satire that is obvious and truthful can at times be received poorly. I say more power to you Pixar! Be sure to go check out the new official trailer. And for more on Disney / Pixar be sure to check out kottke's link as to why so many talented people are leaving the company. glc

A challenge has been laid down. Forget chart positions, forget ticket sales, or brand-extending toiletries or myspace friends or any other measure of success. From here on in, it's all about how well you can rock the back of a cab.

Jessica Hagy got to indexing the Vatican's seven new deadly sins. This should be a nice way to clearly view what's right and what's wrong. I'm looking at you embryo snorters! glc

Might France boycott this years Summer Olympics? Maybe so. Americans don't usually like to find themselves agreeing with the French. Then again our moral compass is it a bit out of whack these days. It does bring up some questions about international nations 'turning a blind eye'. Though normally when you do such a thing it's in the name of 'something'. I just can't figure out what having the Olympics in Beijing provides other then a marketers dream into a massively restricted and untapped market. In that case it's turning a blind eye in the name of greed. Shocking! (thx tmn) glc

Lenny Dykstra, daytrader and media mogul? Of course, John Kruk is on the board of directors. No more strange than Darren Daulton, member of the Fifth Dimension. From Nails: tjc

“I’m forty-four, with a lot of mileage, dude,” he told me. “A lot of mileage.” The chaw is gone, and he hasn’t had a drink in years. “When the market opens at six o’clock in the morning out here, I mean, dude, you got to be up,” he says. “You get to a point in your life where, yeah, I loved baseball, but baseball’s a small part. I’m going to build something that can change the fucking outcome of people’s lives.”

The March episode of Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel highlights 'The Dude' and his rise in the daytrading profession. jmj

The University of San Diego opted to keep its pep band at home to support the women's basketball team this weekend for the NCAA tournament. Since pep bands are mandated by Rule 24.5, subsection G, page 4,988 of the NCAA Manual, the school hired the University of Western Kentucky's band. Then in Round 2, since San Diego had to play Western Kentucky, San Diego hired the band from Sienna. jmj

It's possible that Obama and Clinton could share the presidency. And it is highly improbable either would ever agree to it. Highly improbable. tjc
