Attitude is Everything

Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character.

-Albert Einstein, theoretical physicist

There is very little in life that we can control. I have learned through my time, that if you do everything in your power to be prepared and approach things with the right attitude, things will usually work out in your favor. There are always exceptions to this rule, however, but in most cases, I've found it to be true. There have been times in the past, and most recently, this week, where I did not adequately prepare myself for a task and approached it with the wrong attitude. To say that I failed miserably would be an understatement; my attitude and approach totally bit me in the ass. It's not that the incompletion of the task is a big deal; I'll be able to do it again. It's the way that I handled the situation that is eating me up inside. All I can ensure is that this brief lapse of character doesn't happen again.

The greatest revolution in our generation is that of human beings, who by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives.

Ames Rally IowaWhether you realize it or not, our country is in the midst of a revolution. We need change, and we need it now. The record turnouts across the country for the 54 Democratic primaries signifies that fact more than ever. And it's not that Senator Barack Obama is more qualified for the Presidential office than Senator Clinton. If anything, he's probably less qualified. What Senator Obama has that Senator Clinton does not is the power of positive attitude and charisma. He does not underestimate the wisdom and thoughtfulness of Americans, and speaks of prosperity, unity, and hope for the future. He is on a mission to turn the page on policies of the past and work towards a better future. We listen, and we believe in Senator Obama.

Leadership is practiced not so much in words as in attitude and in actions.

-Harold Geneen, Chairman, ITT Corp.

Now with the news that Senator Clinton will endorse Senator Obama tomorrow, he has a lot to live up to. The Democratic Party, voters, delegates and superdelegates alike, have spoken. It is now time for Senator Obama to live up to the expectations not that we created for him, but that he created for himself. I, for one, believe that he can, and will.

America, this is our moment. This is our time. Our time to turn the page on the policies of the past. Our time to bring new energy and new ideas to the challenges we face. Our time to offer a new direction for the country we love.

The journey will be difficult. The road will be long. I face this challenge with profound humility, and knowledge of my own limitations. But I also face it with limitless faith in the capacity of the American people. Because if we are willing to work for it, and fight for it, and believe in it, then I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth. This was the moment--this was the time--when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves and our highest ideals. Thank you, God bless you, and may God bless the United States of America.

-Barack Obama, Senator and 2008 Democratic Presidential Nominee

we hear the same messages every four years from both sides of the political spectrum. i fear only that Obama is just good at delivering the message, but the end result will be the same as all of the others before him

Excellent commentary. Obama is not only being positive himself, he's encouraging all of his supporters to do the same, therefore creating a new form of politics. Instead of fear, anger, ignorance, rumor and sarcasm, Senator Obama promotes cooperation, respect, positivity, nonpartisanship and unity. When he wins in November, it will be a wake up call to all politicians that Americans are tired of old school dirty politics, and ready for new issues-based campaigning. And that all boils down to "Attitude is Everything."

Obama is a shining example of the power of a positive attitude. Hope he lives up to the expectations too.
