Got Soul?
Guest writer Brooke Rachel Shive is a vocalist, actor and dancer. She is Joe's girlfriend and dear friend to Tim and Gerard. When questioned about her level of education, she will tell you she has a Master's Degree in shopping and a Ph.D. in awesomeness.

I would like to start off by saying, that I am not a very good writer. My boyfriend, Joseph, a contributor to the memeticians website, asked me if I would be a guest writer. I was hesitant at first, but accepted with the agreement that his editing skills are at my disposal. What could I possibly write about? For days I struggled. Do I write about Amtrak (my fake job as I like to call it) that I hate, my real job as an actor, singer and dancer, or just about life in general? After deliberating for a while, (I am very indecisive) I decided that I am going to write about something that I have always believed in, and now am experiencing first hand.
Let's begin by asking ourselves, "What is a soul?" Some religions believe that it is your essence and awareness of self, while others preach that the soul is immortal and synonymous with your inner-spirit. Socrates told us that the soul controls our behavior, and Plato argued that we have three souls that work together to achieve harmony. Science has hypothesized that a soul is a concept that shapes our understanding of the world. Music tells us that James Brown is the godfather, and pop culture taught that you can steal it back from the devil and carry it around in a briefcase.
Whatever a soul may be, I have always believed in the concept of a soul mate. Somewhere in this world there is a match for everyone that shares the same feelings, love and outlook on this life. Joseph, a name that his mother believes is only given to special individuals, struck me immediately. And true to form, he is definitely a special person. While the climatic moment of the film Jerry Maguire has made the phrase cliché, we complete one another. It's a connection that runs deeper than anything I have ever experienced before.
He has helped me grow up, control the things in this life that I can and accept things that I cannot as they are, and love like I have never loved before. No one has ever accepted me for who I am and supports me like he does (except my parents, of course). He pushes me, puts up with my craziness, and loves me for me. I do the same for him in return. I hope every girl finds their own Joseph Michael Jamison, but you sure as hell can't have mine.
