You know what's all the rage, desk rage! [thx Mary] tjc

The July 21st issue of the New Yorker hit newsstands everywhere yesterday donning Michelle Obama as a revolutionary in military fatigues with an AK-47, and Barack Obama dressed in traditional Muslim attire. Both of them are standing in the Oval Office while an America flag is burning in the fireplace. A portrait of Osama Bin Laden hangs above it. While I understand the satirical nature of the cover, my opinion of it is completely irrelevant. I will, however, give New Yorker editor David Remnick credit for not backing away from it. You can read an interview with Rachel Sklar of The Huffington Post or listen to him defend his case on NPR's All Things Considered. jmj

Philadelphia Phillies fan Cole Yeager, who shows up to Citizens Bank Park in a full Phillies uniform for home games, was escorted out of the MLB Fan Fest yesterday for pretending to be a player and signing memorabilia. I don't know who's more stupid, Cole Yeager or the people asking him to sign souvenirs. jmj

It's not every day that a pop album is promoted by the presidency of a international power. Though not every president is married to an ex-model turned pop star, ie: Carla Bruni, whose nude photograph fetches $91K at a Christie's auction in New York. glc

Philadelphia Phillies second baseman, Chase Utley, wasn't received too kindly by the crowd at Yankee Stadium last night during the Home Run Derby. His reaction, perhaps inappropriate, makes me chuckle. glc
