Check out James Nachtwey's Witness photography page; there is some really compelling stuff. jmj
I have been a witness, and these pictures are my testimony. The events I have recorded should not be forgotten and must not be repeated.

Slate magazine has developed an interesting, interactive timeline on the two versions of Barack Obama's life: his version, and the media's version. In order to do so, they has compiled Obama's speeches, his writings, contemporary news accounts of his life, and recent retrospective articles to show how Obama's life looks different depending on who's looking. jmj

NBC's Olympic website is bravely attempting to offer live streaming of more than 2,200 hours while posting another 3,500 hours of archived video. I wouldn't know, though, since I have a PowerPC-based Mac. Not cool. jmj

I'm not sure the Bulgarian freestyle wrestling team has done to upset the Olympic gods, but this is a really bizarre story. jmj

Last week, I discussed the impact that the Manny Ramirez/Jason Bay trade has had on the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Boston Red Sox. Yesterday, in order to keep up with the Dodgers and bolster their much maligned offense, the Arizona Diamondbacks acquired OF Adam Dunn from the Cincinnati Reds for three prospects via a waiver-wire trade.
While this won't receive as much press as the Ramirez/Bay trade, it should. Dunn, who is well on place to have his 5th straight 40 HR season, currently leads the National League in HRs and is 2nd in walks. And while he can't hit for average like Manny, only Alex Rodriguez has more HRs since the start of the 2004 season than Dunn, with 199 to Dunn's 198. jmj
