Videos Redux
I know I know. I can at times go a little over board with the Radiohead business. But the video for All I Need is strikingly beautiful. The Dichotomy. The momentary similarities of life awakening in the morning that transitions into a world very different then the one we experience growing up. Yet, as the conclusion so clearly drives home, that far away world has a much greater influence on our day to day lives then we care to consciously acknowledge. A stunning video.
Contrast that video with this one for the same song. Created by editing footage from the 1996 French film Microcosmos. An equally as beautiful video as the one above but for completely different reasons. When the rains come it's amazingly violent and destructive on such an miniature scale. Wonderfully made!
Alright, so it's officially Radiohead video weekend. Like the other memeticians, I am a huge Radiohead fan. In contrast, however, I prefer their earlier work as opposed to their more recent, specifically The Bends and OK Computer. Not that I don't enjoy their new material, it's just a preference. Anyway, their videos during The Bends/OK Computer era show their brilliance at a time when the band was still discovering who they are. jmj
