Burgers for Breakfast?
I was driving home from Happy Valley yesterday when my bladder felt like it was going to explode. As much as I didn't want to stop just 25 miles away from my exit on the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I was making great time, Jerry!), it was a must.
I jogged in to the facility was making my way towards the restroom, when a sign caught my eye. It read:
Burger King is now serving its lunch menu beginning at 7 am.
Awesome! Who wouldn't want a nice, juicy, flame-broiled burger for breakfast?
It got me thinking about what other foods that are acceptable to eat for breakfast, as irregular as they may seem. Here is what I came up with during the rest of the ride home.
1. Thanksgiving leftovers: Turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, you name it. Pile on the gravy and go to town. Even pie is allowed. It's made of fruit, right?
2. Pizza: The ol' college favorite. There's nothing better than opening the fridge in the morning and pulling a nice piece of pie out of the box that barely fits in the fridge. The beauty of pizza is that even if the leftovers didn't make it to the fridge, it's still edible. Heating up the pizza, however, is completely unacceptable.
3. Chinese food: My personal favorite on this short list of acceptables. I'm going to be honest with you, though. The only thing I've done this with is beef lo mien because, well, that's all I ever get. I feel that pork fried rice may work as well.
4. Birthday cake: You just celebrated a birthday in your house and feel bad about yourself because you broke your diet last night. Not eating a piece of cake is "bad luck," but you still feel terrible. Have a piece of cake. It'll make you feel better.
5. Pasta: I probably have pasta for breakfast more than anything else on this list. A nice penne vodka is always good reheated. No seafood, though. That's just a major no-no.
I'm pretty sure that most Burger Kings are not doing this silly little promotion, but it would be delicious if they were.
Can I help you?
Yes, I'd like a Whopper, egg and cheese and a cup of coffee.
Would you like tater tots with that?
Um...no thank you. I'll take some onion rings, please.
Awesome.
