Sarah Palining

We all know by now how good Tina Fey's impersonation of Sarah Palin is on Saturday Night Live. Every week, we are treated to a hilarious portrayal of the Alaskan governor's public persona.

What you may have not seen, however, is comedian Sara Benincasa's Sarah Palin Vlogs. What began as a Youtube project has been picked up by the Huffington Post's 23/6 humor site. Is she as good as Tina Fey? I don't know, but she is pretty damn funny. What I do like is that Sara Benincasa takes a stab at Sarah Palin's private persona.

The best comparison in my eyes, however, isn't even an impersonation. Eighteen years before Sarah Palin was introduced to the continental United States, we were introduced to Martha Generic, Bobby Generic's mother in Howie Mandel's animated series Bobby's World. This is the first thing I thought of when I first heard Sarah Palin speak, and exactly how I imagine her at home.

Then there's, of course, John McCain's real running mate, Margie Gunderson. What a maverick!

God Bless America.
