Which team will win Super Bowl XLIII?

It's the classic battle between a great offense and a great defense. Gregg Easterbrook though believes that it's the Steelers 'O versus the Cards 'D that will settle the debate.

Current betting markets have established the Pittsburgh Steelers as heavy favorites over the Arizona Cardinals heading into this weekend's Super Bowl.

Pittsburgh is currently a 7 point favorite and has a money line of -250 compared to Arizona's +200. The futures market for the NFL Championship has Pittsburgh trading at $70 versus Arizona's $30 (all bets setting to $100).

As the playoffs entered into week two and Arizona faced Carolina as heavy underdogs they were trading at only $3 on the futures market. Even after taking down the heavily favored Panthers on the road and then heading home to defeat the favored Eagles they are still getting no respect from the gambling world.

Heading into their playoff game against Carolina I felt that $3 value was an incredible bargain. Something told me that it was their year. Though it might have been that $3 just seemed so damn cheap. Either way I got a feeling. Now it seems like the nation may be coming around to the idea that Arizona could pull out the win. Though I think those numbers reflect a individuals desired outcome, not necessarily who they think will win. And perhaps my thinking is tainted with the same bias.

Many in these parts (Philadelphia) are calling on fans to root for their cross-state brethren as a show of support for their home state. Others are taking the stance that to see the lowly Cardinals win a SB before the Eagles would be too depressing to handle. Me, I'm rooting for the Cardinals. I don't care to see the same old same old. Plus it always good to root for the underdog. Besides, after taking down Carolina and Philadelphia and going against a QB recovering from a spinal concussion should Ariznoa really be that big an underdog? I don't think so.

Regardless of the outcome though, here's to hoping it's a good game.
