Partisanship wins again

President Barack Obama received another blow in his battle for a bipartisan government when US Senator Judd Gregg, a Republican from New Hampshire, withdrew as nominee for Commerce Secretary, becoming the second nominee to do so. His nomination was announced last week and he was expected to become the second Republican in the Obama cabinet. The President had originally picked New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson for the commerce post, but the governor withdrew over an investigation into a state contract given to his campaign donors.
