Sarah Palining

We all know by now how good Tina Fey's impersonation of Sarah Palin is on Saturday Night Live. Every week, we are treated to a hilarious portrayal of the Alaskan governor's public persona.

What you may have not seen, however, is comedian Sara Benincasa's Sarah Palin Vlogs. What began as a Youtube project has been picked up by the Huffington Post's 23/6 humor site. Is she as good as Tina Fey? I don't know, but she is pretty damn funny. What I do like is that Sara Benincasa takes a stab at Sarah Palin's private persona.

I'll stay on the first subject from yesterday: words. Bon mots. And then I'll bog it down with the usual sports conversation. (I promise, we'll get away from politics and sports one of these days.)

I'm a bit annoyed at baseball for allowing the Tampa Bay Devil Rays to just drop the "Devil." Dropping the devil cannot, in any way, shape, or form, be easy. It must have had a price. How much do you think Tampa (that is the City of Tampa, not Tampa Bay, just Tampa, not like the town of Green Bay ~ thank you TMQ) ... Anyway, how much do you think they paid to drop the devil? There must be a price.

One reason why I have nothing but disdain for the GOP strategy: their all-out attack on words (and intelligence to some extent). Another reason: aspiring to dictatorship. Or is that all leaders being narcissists? Anyway, move over GOP. (Can I say that?) And if you don't believe Slate and their "experts," take it from a sabermetrician on Colbert! tjc

More and more these days when it comes to politics, if candidates repeat themselves enough, statements without any solid foundation will somehow become truths. Has it always been this way? I'm not really sure.

I was driving home from Happy Valley yesterday when my bladder felt like it was going to explode. As much as I didn't want to stop just 25 miles away from my exit on the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I was making great time, Jerry!), it was a must.

I jogged in to the facility was making my way towards the restroom, when a sign caught my eye. It read:

BURGERS FOR BREAKFAST

Burger King is now serving its lunch menu beginning at 7 am.

John McCain says that he is the candidate that will support our service men and women. He does so, frequently hanging is hat on the fact that he is a veteran who served in Vietnam. But does his voting record in office say otherwise? 2 Dinar, an op-ed webzine written by veterans, believes it might. eab

It's happy day here in Philadelphia. Though it wasn't easy, The Fightins have won their first playoff game since 1993. Geez, that was a loooooong time ago. eab

I got to witness the victory firsthand; it was a beautiful thing. In other playoff news, the Cubs got hammered by the Dodgers, 7-2. Cubs fans can start worrying. The always unpredictable Carlos Zambrano takes the hill tonight, and in NLDS history, the winner of game 1 has taken 23 out of 26 series. Oh, and the last time the Cubs have lost game 1 of a series at home and have comeback to win? Never. jmj

I recently Netflix'ed the first season of Mad Men. It's good, real good. The style is super sweet. You're never quite sure what makes Don Draper tick. And the portrayal of the times I'm guessing is spot on, at least that's what 'they' say. But I still don't quite understand the hysterical obsession some have for it. Are the offerings on television these days so bad that one really good show comes off as an epic of all time after just one season? Perhaps Tim can enlighten me. eab
