Where to begin? A prominent female pundit was recently quoted as saying something about an assassination in regards to Barack Obama. Saying that it was stupid doesn't do it justice, more like potentially criminal, but I'll clarify that. Asinine, I think that sums it up nicely. Completely and utterly asinine. A comment so offensive I'm amazed it hasn't been part of the political discourse in a society that drags everything through the mud. Let's put it this way (and I'm not exaggerating here): a guy I work with receives a page to his phone any time any piece of news occurs anywhere in the entire world. He is subscribed to every news source imaginable. His Blackberry vibrates on his deck all day long. But when I asked him yesterday about this quote he had no idea what I was talking about! I almost fell out of my seat.
John Edwards is out for John Edwards. Not unity among Democrats. Not middle class white people. Not Barack Obama. Just John Edwards. And Christopher Beam should know this.
